GetResponse is an email-marketing option to consider when a publication or business has a consenting audience and a defined campaign workflow. The first choice is not the largest automation feature list. It is whether the selected plan covers the contact count, the messages and the follow-up work the owner will actually maintain.
This guide uses official public documentation, with the Starter workflow entitlement checked on 12 October 2026 and its USD pricing checked on 16 October 2026. We have not sent campaigns, configured an account or measured deliverability. The Starter reference uses 1,000 contacts. Purchaser country, final checkout tax and the price at a future renewal remain unconfirmed.
What the entry workflow includes
Starter lists unlimited sends, one custom workflow with up to six elements, welcome templates, forms and landing pages. Advanced automation elements are excluded from Starter; check the exact higher-tier entitlement for the workflow you need. A simple newsletter with a welcome sequence has a different requirement from a series of branching sales journeys; do not treat the word automation as proof that the entry plan provides every workflow.
| Question | What to compare | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Regular newsletter | Consenting contacts, campaign cadence and required templates | Match the exact contact tier first. |
| Custom workflow | One workflow with up to six elements; welcome templates available | Starter is a candidate for the limited workflow. |
| Branching marketing journeys | Advanced workflow entitlement | Investigate the tier that includes the actual requirement. |
Monthly and annual references
The official 1,000-contact Starter USD reference checked on 16 October 2026 is US$19 with monthly billing or US$15.58 per month equivalent with annual billing, with applicable tax extra. The annual equivalent gives 12 × US$15.58 = US$186.96. That is a calculated subtotal, not an observed checkout invoice. Future renewal remains unconfirmed, and contact growth can change the required billing tier.
Write down the starting audience and the expected decision point for a higher tier. A plan’s sending allowance and its contact allowance answer separate questions. Even when sends are described as unlimited, permission, acceptable use and the practical campaign workflow still matter. An allowance is not permission to upload a purchased audience.
A campaign tool does not replace a mailbox
Choose where replies will arrive, who checks them and who maintains account recovery. Newsletter software is different from ordinary business email. Keep your domain ownership and DNS access with the business, and follow the account-specific sender-authentication instructions when you later set up the service.
Prepare one representative campaign and your intended workflow before paying annually. Evaluate subscriber signup, consent records and unsubscribe behavior with your own test addresses. We have not completed those checks in GetResponse, and authenticating a sender alone would not prove a measured inbox-placement result.
For a publication, a welcome sequence might explain what the reader will receive and how often. An abandoned complex sequence can be less useful than one maintained digest. Decide who will update links and correct messages when an article changes, rather than treating automation as work that never needs another review.
Which alternatives deserve attention?
MailerLite and Brevo are candidates for different newsletter and contact/send pricing arrangements; Kit deserves a comparison when the editorial workflow centers on creators and sequences. Compare the same audience size and billing period. A US$15.58 annual equivalent cannot fairly be compared with another vendor’s monthly invoice without showing the commitment.
Our editorial inference is to start with the simplest workflow that fulfills the newsletter’s promise. Postponing a newsletter is reasonable when there is no consenting audience or sustainable content schedule. Skip an upgrade when the advanced automation has no assigned owner or defined job.
Read email hosting versus email marketing and planning an email-provider move to keep campaigns, mailboxes and migration responsibilities distinct.
Observed price evidence
The plan records below distinguish advertised rates, initial payment and renewal. Their source and observation context travel with each row. An unknown amount is left unconfirmed; this guide does not turn a promotion into a renewal promise.

How to read these prices
Compare the job, the full initial commitment and the renewal billing basis. Each company appears once. Open Change plan to view every recorded plan and term. Showing a plan does not change your two-plan comparison. The initial view uses a recorded non-trial option where available; it is not a ranking. Feature marks are tied to the documented plan, market, limits and billing conditions. Their check dates are independent from price rechecks. Europe is not one price or tax jurisdiction; select your actual billing country at checkout. These are researched public offers, not checkout quotes or hands-on tests. Currency values are not conversions. Listing order does not depend on commission.
