This Privacy notice explains how personal data is processed when you use Pagember, an editorial project publishing comparisons and practical guides.

Who is responsible for your data

Carlos Torres, a self-employed individual in Portugal, is the website operator and data controller. Pagember is the project’s publishing name and is not a separate incorporated company.

Address: Rua de São Vicente, n.º 75, 4710-312 Braga, Portugal.
Privacy contact: geral@pagember.com.

The complete publisher identification is in our Legal Notice / Publisher Information. This notice describes the services currently active on the website.

What we process and why

If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you provide and your message. We use this information to answer your request, investigate corrections and manage necessary follow-up. Our legitimate interest is responding to people who contact the publication; sending a message does not subscribe you to marketing.

Our hosting and email services can process technical connection data, including IP addresses, request times, requested URLs, browser information and security events. This supports delivery, troubleshooting and protection against misuse. Our legitimate interest is operating and securing the website while limiting unnecessary collection.

Services and storage

Website hosting and the geral@pagember.com mailbox use Namecheap services. Namecheap processes hosting data on our behalf under its Data Processing Addendum. Its published arrangements contemplate processing in the United States and international-transfer safeguards, including standard contractual clauses. We do not claim that all data stays in the European Union. See also Namecheap’s hosting and service privacy information.

How long information is kept

Our retention policy is to delete ordinary contact messages within six months after a request is resolved. Information needed for a complaint, dispute or legal obligation is kept until that matter and the applicable obligation have ended, then deleted.

Archived website access logs are configured for monthly removal of the previous month’s files. This setting does not establish a retention period for other hosting security logs or backups. The website backup schedule is configured for daily backups with rotation of seven copies; this describes the configuration, not a guarantee that every scheduled run succeeds. Older recovery copies are scheduled to be replaced as new backups complete, rather than edited individually. For hosting data processed on our behalf, Namecheap’s DPA provides for retention needed to deliver the covered services or required by law, and for return or deletion when the processing services end, subject to legal requirements. These arrangements do not mean that every security record follows the monthly setting for archived website access logs.

Cookies and preferences

Our Cookie Policy contains the storage inventory and explains how to manage your choices.

WordPress uses essential cookies for administrator login. Pagember displays price references in US dollars and no longer stores a regional price preference. Any old pagember_market cookie is cleared when you visit the site. An animation preference can be remembered in session storage for the current browser session.

Your optional analytics choice is stored in this browser under ep_cookie_consent_v1 for up to 180 days. It records your choice, its version and dates, without a visitor identifier. A preference cookie named ep_analytics_denied_v1 may also remember withdrawal for up to 180 days if normal preference storage fails. If your browser cannot save a choice, optional analytics stays off.

Google Analytics is optional. Its Google tag is not loaded, and no Analytics request is sent, before you accept analytics. Rejecting optional cookies or leaving the notice unanswered keeps it off. You can reopen Cookie settings in the footer on any page to change your choice. Withdrawing consent stops Analytics, removes accessible Google Analytics cookies for this site and reloads the page to unload the tag. It does not itself erase information already received by Google.

After analytics consent, Google Analytics may set _ga and _ga_<container-id> cookies to distinguish browsers and maintain session information. Analytics cookies are configured with a 180-day expiration period. Some analytics cookies may be updated on later visits, extending their expiry. Browser restrictions may shorten their lifetime. You can also remove these cookies and preferences using your browser controls; removing the consent preference makes the site ask again.

AdSense is not active. There is no contact form, newsletter signup or reader registration.

Optional Google Analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to understand visits and improve Pagember. It processes page views, page addresses and titles, referring pages, session and engagement information, approximate location, browser and device information, and pseudonymous cookie identifiers. Google receives technical connection information, including IP addresses, to operate the service and derive approximate location. Our tag removes query strings and fragments from the page addresses and referrers it sends, uses a generic title for site searches, and does not send contact details or a User-ID.

After you accept analytics, we also count deliberate clicks on approved affiliate links to understand which guides, comparison pages and placements help readers. This event records the provider’s registry name, the type of placement, the destination purpose when it can be determined, the destination hostname and the current page path. It does not include the full affiliate URL, referral or campaign identifiers, link text, contact details, purchases or payment information. Reused destination URLs can have an unknown purpose. If you reject or withdraw analytics, this optional click measurement stays off. These counts describe clicks, not purchases or commissions.

Google Signals, advertising personalisation, enhanced measurement and detailed device/location collection are disabled. No Google Ads account is linked. User-level and event-level retention is set to two months without resetting the period on new activity; standard aggregated reports may remain available longer. Google applies deletion through its retention processing schedule.

Google may process information outside the European Economic Area. Its applicable safeguards include the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses. See how Google uses information from sites and apps, the Google Privacy Policy, the Google data processing terms and international transfer safeguards.

Some outbound links are affiliate links. Following one is optional. The destination provider or affiliate platform may receive referral identifiers and technical connection data from your browser, and may use cookies to attribute the referral under its own privacy arrangements. Purchases and provider accounts are handled on the destination website. Our affiliate integration uses deliberate outbound links rather than automatically loading partner tracking pixels when an article is viewed.

Read the privacy and cookie notices on the destination website for its processing and choices. Our Affiliate Disclosure explains when we may receive a commission.

Your rights

You can browse the publication without creating a reader account. Contacting us is optional; a usable reply address is needed if you want an email response. We do not use the data described here to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Depending on the processing and applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion or restriction of your data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Data portability applies where its legal conditions are met. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. Send a request to geral@pagember.com; we may need proportionate information to confirm that the request concerns your data. We use the information needed to handle a data-protection request to comply with our legal obligations. We normally respond to a data-protection request within one month. If the law permits an extension because of the complexity or number of requests, we will explain the extension within that first month. These periods are separate from ordinary editorial enquiries. You may complain to Portugal’s Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).

Source and provider links lead to other websites with their own privacy arrangements. Do not send passwords, payment information or other sensitive details in an editorial enquiry. This notice will be updated before introducing services that materially change the processing described here.
