Only need email? Choose a domain and a suitable mailbox without website hosting. For a small website, compare included email with separate email by storage, first payment, renewal and the work of moving later. A first-year trial is not permanent email.

If you only need business email, start with a domain and a mailbox; you do not need to buy website hosting. If you also need a website, hosting with suitable included email can reduce the number of subscriptions. Separate email is worth comparing when you want to move the website without moving the inbox.
This comparison uses official prices and documentation checked on 10 October 2026. The email-only example needs one standard available .com and one real 5 GB mailbox. The website example adds one small owner-maintained information site. These are researched service choices, not delivery, support, performance or recovery tests.
Choose the job before choosing the package
- Email only: a registrar manages the domain and an email provider hosts the inbox. No website subscription is required.
- Website and everyday email: compare hosting that includes a suitable mailbox against hosting plus separate email. Included email still has storage and sending limits.
- A team or a critical inbox: compare independent email administration, account recovery, migration and the collaboration features you actually need. A low hosting price does not establish that its email is suitable.
An alias routes messages to an existing inbox; it is not another independent mailbox. A free first year is not a permanent inclusion. Newsletters need a different service and permission workflow from ordinary customer correspondence; read email hosting versus email marketing before buying.
Email without a website: compare the first year and renewal
These paid annual examples use one standard non-premium .com and one Namecheap Private Email Launch mailbox. Launch includes 5 GB and ten aliases. Its published initial annual payment is US$11.88 with MAILDEAL, renewing at US$14.88 per year. Use the exact annual amount, rather than reconstructing it from a rounded monthly equivalent or discount percentage.
| Registration choice | First-year charges | Next annual charges | Condition to notice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dynadot standard .com + Launch | US$10.88 + US$11.88 = US$22.76 | US$10.88 + US$14.88 = US$25.76 | Standard Dynadot registration, excluding its separate partner-registrar coupon; Launch requires eligible MAILDEAL purchase. |
| Namecheap current .com offer + Launch | US$11.48 + US$11.88 = US$23.36 | US$18.68 + US$14.88 = US$33.56 | Domain includes US$0.20 ICANN. The first-year offer is temporary; it does not reduce the current standard annual renewal. |
| Namecheap normal .com reference + Launch | US$15.18 + US$11.88 = US$27.06 | US$18.68 + US$14.88 = US$33.56 | Uses the published normal domain registration instead of the temporary first-year offer. Launch still uses its eligible initial offer. |
At unchanged rates, one registration plus one renewal and two annual mailbox payments sum to US$48.52 for the Dynadot example, US$56.92 with Namecheap’s current first-year registration offer, or US$60.62 with Namecheap’s normal registration reference. These are calculated two-year charge references, not a two-year prepaid quote or a promise of future fees. Dynadot includes ICANN; the Namecheap domain figures already add its US$0.20 annual fee.
For this narrow domain-and-mailbox scenario, the standard Dynadot route has the lower recorded ongoing charge. That is a price observation, not evidence of better email delivery: both rows use the same Launch mailbox. Compare DNS, recovery and registrar restrictions in choosing a domain registrar.
The free trial follows a different billing schedule
Launch also offers a 30-day trial. The trial counts as a purchase and converts to the regular US$14.88 annual plan; an introductory coupon cannot then be added to that conversion. The earlier example of US$11.48 domain registration plus US$14.88 after-trial email equals US$26.36, but its charges fall on different dates. It is not the eligible MAILDEAL purchase shown above, nor a synchronized first-year checkout.
Record the domain expiry and mailbox renewal separately, even if you order both on the same day. Before paying, check the exact available name, premium status, selected period, code eligibility and taxes. Use the current provider quote and the conditions of each promotion rather than assuming an initial offer remains available or lowers a future renewal.
Website hosting: compare the commitment before the headline rate
The following amounts cover hosting only. Domain and email entitlements are explained separately below. A 48-month purchase is not interchangeable with a 12-month payment, even when the advertised monthly equivalent is identical.
| Plan | Initial hosting payment | Hosting renewal reference | Website capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Namecheap Stellar, US datacenter | US$26.88 for 12 months on the domain-and-hosting bundle page | US$55.88 for 12 months | Up to 3 sites; 20 GB shared SSD storage |
| SiteGround StartUp | US$2.99 × 12 = US$35.88 for 12 months | US$17.99 × 12 = US$215.88 for 12 months | 1 site; 10 GB shared web/email space |
| Hostinger Premium | US$143.52 prepaid for 48 months; US$2.99/month equivalent | US$10.99/month equivalent; confirm the next invoice’s billing period | Up to 3 sites; 20 GB SSD web storage |

What the included email, domain and protection actually cover
| Plan | Domain | SSL and backups | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Namecheap Stellar | 30 cPanel email accounts included. All email is capped at 10 GB within the 20 GB hosting allocation; Stellar allows 50 outgoing messages/hour/domain. This is not Private Email Launch. | The bundle discounts one eligible new standard .com to US$5.98 plus US$0.20 ICANN for the first year. It is not a free .com; normal renewal follows. | Included StandardSSL lasts one year, then needs paid renewal. Internal maintenance backups are not a guaranteed recovery service; keep your own copies. |
| SiteGround StartUp | Domain email included. All email can use up to 10 GB within the plan’s total 10 GB space, leaving less room for the website. Limit: 400 sends/hour/site; each recipient counts. | The optional promotion covers one eligible .com, .org or .net for the first year, then renewal is separate. | SSL and up to 30 daily backup copies/restores included. Integrated backup downloads need Premium Backup; free on-demand backups start at GrowBig. |
| Hostinger Premium | Two trial mailboxes per site for one year, 1 GB each. They do not meet this guide’s 5 GB example. With a valid saved payment method, trial mailboxes convert automatically to paid Business Starter. Check the account-specific price and billing period. | One eligible domain, including an available .com, free for one year with a qualifying new purchase of at least 12 months. Later renewal is separate. | SSL included for hosted sites with correct setup. Weekly backups retained for six weeks; daily backups on Premium cost extra or need an upgrade. |
For a 5 GB inbox, set the mailbox quota in Stellar’s cPanel or increase it in SiteGround Site Tools. Both must have enough remaining shared capacity; leave room for the website. Neither turns its total hosting space into the same allowance for every inbox. All three have usage conditions. A website-hosting subscription is not a newsletter platform.
Two useful first-year website references
Stellar’s discounted-domain bundle: US$26.88 hosting + US$5.98 .com + US$0.20 ICANN = US$33.06 for those first-year subscriptions, with cPanel email included. At today’s regular rates, the next hosting and domain charges are US$55.88 + US$18.68 = US$74.56, before the later SSL renewal and taxes. That later figure is not the complete cost of keeping HTTPS running. The discount applies to an eligible new registration; an existing domain or another datacenter needs its own quote.
StartUp with an independently registered domain: US$35.88 hosting + US$10.88 Dynadot .com = US$46.76 for the first-year service charges, with hosting email, SSL and daily backups included. The next annual reference is US$215.88 + US$10.88 = US$226.76. This example deliberately buys the domain externally from day one; it does not also subtract SiteGround’s optional domain promotion.
Stellar has the lower recorded initial service subtotal in these two examples, with a time-limited included certificate and more limited backup provisions. StartUp includes daily recovery copies but has a much larger renewal increase. Hostinger requires a longer initial hosting commitment and its trial inbox is smaller than the specified mailbox. Choose on those responsibilities and requirements; do not treat a missing later charge as zero.
Use the right currency and regional reference
The tables above use USD references. Namecheap charges in USD even when showing indicative local-currency amounts. A purchaser outside the United States must check eligibility, applicable tax and any payment-conversion cost on the provider’s final quote.
The official USD StartUp reference checked on 16 October 2026 is US$2.99 per month for a prepaid 12-month term: 12 × US$2.99 = US$35.88, a calculated initial subtotal. Its current standard renewal reference is US$17.99 per month equivalent; 12 × US$17.99 = US$215.88 is a planning calculation, not an observed renewal invoice. Hostinger Premium lists US$143.52 prepaid for 48 months, then US$10.99 per month equivalent. Eligibility, final tax and the renewal payment period must be checked before purchase. See SiteGround USD pricing and Hostinger USD pricing.
Use the USD scenario in the small-website budget to inspect payments over 12, 24, 36 or 48 months. It counts full prepaid invoices rather than prorating every purchase. Its separate-email example uses EasyWP; check the documented external-domain SSL condition shown there before choosing that setup.
Keep the domain, DNS and inbox recoverable
Registration, website routing and email hosting can be with different companies. Private Email’s DNS setup instructions depend on the authoritative DNS host, not on moving the registration to Namecheap.
Keep an owner-controlled registrar account and an independent recovery address. Record who manages DNS, website hosting and email. Before a hosting move, preserve MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records and export the mailbox data you need. Do not cancel the old service until the website and email work on the new setup. Read connecting a domain without breaking email and keep a backup you can restore.
Choose the next step that fits your situation
- No website planned: compare domain renewal and a suitable independent mailbox. The paid Launch examples above avoid buying unused hosting; a free personal inbox remains an option if you do not need your domain in the address.
- A small website and ordinary email: compare the documented shared-email limits and renewal costs. Pay separately for email only when its features or independence justify another subscription.
- Ready to budget: open the complete small-website service budget, then verify the provider’s current quote and the exact setup conditions.
For the ownership decision, read buying domain and hosting separately. If mailbox features matter most, continue to business email for a small team. Provider links remain public source links until an affiliate relationship is approved and activated; commission does not decide these recommendations.
