The Subscriptions extension is an optional paid product, not the total cost of a store. The official USD offer checked on 16 October 2026 lists US$279 for one year and a discounted US$446.40 two-year option. These are different commitments, not monthly invoices or guaranteed future renewals. Core software is free, but the operating stack still needs hosting, a domain, payment processing, updates and recovery. Confirm purchaser eligibility, gateway compatibility, tax and renewal before choosing the extension; a hosted-store comparison involves a different allocation of work.

Choose when: You need a WordPress store and can assign responsibility for hosting, extensions and recovery.
Skip when: You want a single hosted store subscription to cover the entire operating stack.
What you are paying for
Free WooCommerce core and a paid Marketplace extension are separate products. WooCommerce Subscriptions is a recurring-payment extension; its licence does not include every payment gateway, hosting, domain, recovery service or subscription-business obligation.
